RF Wake-Up

Example 1:Global Wake-Up

- Within a limited range, it is able to wake-up multiple devices at the same time.

Access Point: At the start of a wake-up event, the access point sends out a high duty cycle advertising packet(or page scan if phone or tablet is used). The access point then scans and scans for a specific beacon from the targeted device.After finding the specific beacon, it extracts any relevant data from the received beacon and waits for the next event.

Asset Beacon:The asset beacon tag device is in low-power mode.Its RF wake-up receiver function wakes-up when it receives a page scan or a high duty advertising Bluetooth packet. After waking up, the SoC sends a few beacons then resume back to sleep mode.



Example 2:Global Wake-Up

- Within a limited range, it is able to wake-up a specified device.

Access Point: At the start of a wake-up event,the access point sends out a high duty cycle advertising packet.It must access to lower software stack to configure the high duty cycle advertising.The access point then scans and looks for a specific beacon from the targeted device.After finding the specific beacon,it extracts any relevant data from the received beacon and waits for the next event.

Asset Beacon: The asset beacon tag device is in low-power mode.Its RF receiver wakes-up when it receives a page based on high duty cycle advertising.However, instead of sending beacons immediately,it scans for incoming Bluetooth beacon that contains its BD address. If found, the asset beacon tag device start beaconing. Otherwise, it goes back to sleep mode. In this example,all the tags in range will wake-up but only one will start beaconing while the rest continue in sleep mode.
